Alejandro Galán
Alejandro Galán and partner Juan Lebrón retained the World Padel Tour's number one doubles ranking for a second consecutive year in 2021, part of a run that's kept the pairing at number one for four straight years, and together they've won 32 World Padel Tour titles plus seven Premier Padel titles since the tour's rebrand. The pair won four Premier Padel titles in the 2022 season alone, a level of single-season dominance that Red Bull's own athlete profile of the duo has specifically singled out as the peak of their partnership to date. Galán's game combines strong defensive court positioning with the ability to transition quickly into net play, a versatile profile that's helped the pairing sustain its ranking against a far deeper competitive field than the one Belasteguín and Díaz faced during their own earlier period of dominance. His combination of a four-year run at world number one and 39 combined World Padel Tour and Premier Padel titles alongside Lebrón has made Galán one of the most significant players in padel's modern professional era.
VS
Juan Martín Díaz
Juan Martín Díaz first reached the World Padel Tour's number one ranking in 2000 partnered with Hernán Auguste, two years before he began the pairing with Fernando Belasteguín that would define his career and become the sport's benchmark doubles partnership. Díaz and Belasteguín held the world's top ranking together for 13 straight seasons, from 2002 to 2014, winning 170 of the 191 finals they played as a team — a winning percentage in finals that remains unmatched by any other pairing in the sport's history. Their 22-tournament winning streak between September 2005 and May 2007, spanning nearly two full years without a loss, is still cited within the sport as the high-water mark of doubles dominance in professional padel. His combination of an individual world number one ranking achieved before Belasteguín and his role in the most statistically dominant partnership padel has ever seen has made Díaz one of the most significant players in the sport's history.
