Bellagio Fountains
The Bellagio Fountains opened alongside the resort itself in 1998, designed by WET Design, the same firm behind numerous other major water-feature installations worldwide, and built into an eight-acre man-made lake directly in front of the hotel along the Las Vegas Strip. The choreographed water show synchronizes more than 1,200 individual water jets — some launching water over 460 feet into the air — to a rotating library of musical scores ranging from classical pieces to pop songs and Broadway numbers, with shows running at regular intervals throughout the day and evening entirely free to watch from the sidewalk. The fountains were built using a technology WET Design specifically engineered for the project, called the "oarsman," a piston-actuated mechanism capable of producing more precise and dynamic water movements synchronized to music than earlier fountain technologies could achieve. For a Las Vegas attractions list, the Bellagio Fountains are the essential "the free show everyone stops for" entry — a 1998 eight-acre water installation whose musically choreographed jets have become one of the most photographed free spectacles anywhere on the Strip.
VS
The High Roller
The High Roller opened in 2014 as part of the LINQ Promenade development, and at 550 feet tall, it held the title of the world's tallest observation wheel until London's Marianne North Wheel and other later projects contested that ranking in subsequent years. The wheel's 28 enclosed cabins, each capable of holding up to 40 passengers, complete a full rotation in roughly 30 minutes, giving riders sweeping views across the entire Las Vegas Strip and the surrounding valley from a height most other Strip attractions can't match. Several of the cabins are outfitted as bars, offering an "Happy Half Hour" package that includes an open bar for the duration of a single rotation, a genuinely Vegas-specific twist on the observation-wheel format that distinguishes it from similar wheels in other cities built purely as sightseeing attractions. For a Las Vegas attractions list, the High Roller is the essential "the bar with the best view in town" entry — a 2014, 550-foot observation wheel that turned the standard sightseeing-wheel format into a genuinely Vegas experience with open-bar cabins included.
