Cliff Swain
Cliff Swain finished as the International Racquetball Tour's year-end number one six times — in 1990, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1998, and 2002 — a span of dominance stretching across more than a decade, and he won US Open titles in 1997 and 2001. During the 1993-94 season specifically, Swain won 13 of the tour's 19 stops, including two separate streaks of five consecutive tournament victories, a level of single-season dominance that remains one of the most statistically extreme stretches in the sport's history. He retired with 70 career IRT tournament titles, a total that stood as the sport's record until Kane Waselenchuk eventually surpassed it, and Swain was inducted into the USA Racquetball Hall of Fame in 2003. His combination of six year-end number one finishes and a then-record 70 career tournament titles has made Swain one of the most historically significant figures in American racquetball, second only to Waselenchuk in the sport's modern era.
VS
Paola Longoria
Paola Longoria has won six women's singles World Championships — in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2021, 2022, and 2024, most recently defeating Gabriela Martínez 11-5 in the San Antonio final — the most of any woman in the sport's history according to Guinness World Records. She also won four World Championship doubles titles partnered with Samantha Salas, in 2021 becoming the most decorated doubles pairing in the sport, and first won a Pan American Championship in 2006, the start of a run that made her the first Mexican woman ever to reach world number one. Longoria has now held that world number one ranking for well over a decade, sustaining her dominance across multiple generations of rising competitors from Mexico, the United States, and Latin America more broadly. Her combination of a record six singles World Championships and four doubles titles with Samantha Salas has made Longoria almost universally regarded as the greatest women's racquetball player in the sport's history.
