Fu Mingxia
Fu Mingxia won Olympic gold in platform diving at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics at just 13 years old, becoming one of the youngest Olympic champions in any sport's history, and she added three more Olympic golds across the 1996 and 2000 Games before retiring in her early twenties. Her combination of platform and springboard gold medals across three separate Olympics established Fu as one of the most dominant divers of the 1990s, and her sustained excellence from her early teenage years through her early twenties reflected the demanding, youth-oriented training pipeline of China's diving program. Fu briefly retired from competition following her 1996 Atlanta Olympics success before returning to add a springboard gold at the 2000 Sydney Games, demonstrating a level of comeback success that few divers who've stepped away from the sport have managed to replicate at the same championship level. Her combined four Olympic gold medals across three separate Games established Fu as one of the most decorated divers in Olympic history, and her early teenage breakthrough remains one of the most historically significant age-related achievements in the sport's Olympic history.
VS
Klaus Dibiasi
Klaus Dibiasi won Olympic gold in platform diving at three consecutive Olympics, from 1968 to 1976, becoming the first diver in Olympic history to win the same individual event at three consecutive Games, a feat that remained unmatched for decades until later divers approached his standard. His combined five Olympic medals across four Games, spanning from 1964 to 1976, established Dibiasi as the dominant men's platform diver of his era, and his sustained excellence across more than a decade reflected remarkable consistency in a technically demanding event that rewards precise, repeatable execution under pressure. Dibiasi competed for Italy during an era when diving's international competitive depth was considerably different than in later decades, and his sustained dominance across three consecutive Olympics established a statistical benchmark that diving historians still reference when discussing the sport's greatest sustained individual Olympic performances. His combination of three consecutive platform diving golds and his overall five-medal Olympic career made Dibiasi one of the most celebrated Italian Olympians of his generation, and he remains one of the most historically significant figures in the development of men's platform diving.
