Irene van Dyk
Irene van Dyk played international netball for two different countries across a 20-year career: 72 caps for South Africa from 1994 to 1999, then 145 more for New Zealand's Silver Ferns from 2000 to 2014 after relocating and becoming eligible for the black dress, retiring with a world-record 217 total test caps. She competed at five Netball World Cups — 1995 and 1999 for South Africa, then 2003, 2007, and 2011 for New Zealand — winning gold with the Silver Ferns in 2003, and reached the 200-test milestone in 2011, a mark no other netballer had approached at the time. Across her international career, van Dyk shot 5,917 goals from 6,572 attempts, a 90 percent conversion rate at the goal shooter position sustained over two decades and two national jerseys, and she remained New Zealand's most-capped Silver Fern at the time of her 2014 retirement. Van Dyk's combination of representing two different countries at netball's highest level and her world-record 217 test caps has made her one of the most statistically significant players in the sport's international history.
VS
Laura Geitz
Laura Geitz captained Australia's Diamonds to gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and then to the 2015 Netball World Cup title on home soil in Sydney, giving Australia back-to-back major titles under her leadership after she took over the captaincy in 2013. Playing goal defense and goal keeper, Geitz built a reputation as one of the sport's most tactically versatile defenders, able to shift roles specifically to match different opposing shooters rather than playing a single fixed defensive assignment across a tournament. Her leadership during the 2015 World Cup, won on Australian home soil against a full international field including traditional rival New Zealand, was later cited by Netball Australia as central to her 2019 induction into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame. Geitz's combination of a Commonwealth Games gold and a home-soil World Cup title, both won as captain within a two-year span, has made her one of the most successful leaders in Australian netball history.
