Jonnie Peacock
Jonnie Peacock won Paralympic gold in the 100 meters at both the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Paralympics, becoming one of the most recognizable British Paralympic athletes following his breakthrough victory in front of a passionate home crowd at London's Olympic Stadium. Having lost his leg to meningitis as a young child, Peacock's rise to Paralympic sprint champion reflected a determined athletic development following a significant early-life medical crisis that could easily have prevented any subsequent competitive sports career. His technical mastery of running blade prosthetic technology, combined with genuine sprint speed, made Peacock one of the most dominant competitors in Paralympic sprinting throughout the 2010s, and his London 2012 victory became one of the defining moments of that Paralympic Games. His combination of back-to-back Olympic-cycle gold medals and his significant role elevating Paralympic sprinting's mainstream British visibility following London 2012 has made Peacock one of the most celebrated Paralympic athletes of his generation.

Her combination of technical swimming precision and sustained competitive excellence across multiple Paralympic Games established Simmonds as one of the most consistently dominant swimmers in her specific disability classification throughout the 2010s. Simmonds's massive popularity in Britain, including her role as one of the most recognizable faces of the celebrated 2012 London Paralympics, helped significantly raise mainstream British public awareness and interest in Paralympic sport more broadly. Her combination of sustained multi-Games swimming dominance and her significant role in popularizing Paralympic sport for mainstream British audiences has made Simmonds one of the most celebrated and publicly beloved Paralympic athletes in British sporting history.
