Jonny Moseley
Jonny Moseley won Olympic gold in moguls skiing at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, and his signature "360 mute grab" trick, performed during his gold-medal-winning run, became one of the most celebrated individual maneuvers in the sport's Olympic history. His technical innovation continued at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, where he debuted the "dinner roll" trick, an inverted maneuver so technically difficult that judges controversially declined to score it as highly as Moseley and many observers felt it deserved, sparking significant debate about the sport's judging criteria. Moseley's combination of genuine technical innovation and his charismatic, media-friendly public persona made him one of the most recognizable American action sports athletes of his generation, helping raise moguls skiing's mainstream visibility during his competitive prime. His combination of Olympic gold and his repeated willingness to push moguls skiing's technical boundaries, even when judges failed to fully reward his innovations, has made Moseley one of the most historically significant and influential competitors in the sport's history.
VS
Alexandre Bilodeau
Alexandre Bilodeau won Olympic gold in men's moguls skiing at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, becoming the first Canadian athlete to win a gold medal on home Canadian soil at a Winter Olympics, a milestone that carried particular significance given Canada's Olympic history. He successfully defended his title at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, becoming the first man to win back-to-back Olympic gold medals in moguls skiing, establishing sustained dominance across two separate Olympic cycles. Bilodeau has publicly credited his older brother Frédéric, who has cerebral palsy, as his primary inspiration throughout his competitive career, and his emotional post-victory tributes to his brother became one of the most widely discussed human-interest stories of the 2010 Vancouver Games. His combination of back-to-back Olympic gold medals and his historic status as Canada's first home-soil Olympic champion has made Bilodeau one of the most significant and beloved figures in Canadian Winter Olympics history.
