Pardeep Narwal
Pardeep Narwal set the Pro Kabaddi League's single-season raid points record with 369 in Season 5, playing just 26 games — a mark that Pawan Sehrawat came closest to beating with 346 raid points in Season 7, but which still stands. Nicknamed "Dubki King" for the diving technique he uses to slip past defenders during raids, Narwal became the first raider in PKL history to cross 1,800 career raid points, retiring with a career total of 1,801 that remains the league's all-time record. His outsized individual scoring, at times outproducing an entire opposing team's defensive unit on his own, made Narwal the central commercial draw of the league's growth years following its 2014 launch. His combination of the single-season raid points record and his still-unmatched career total of 1,801 raid points has made Narwal the player most frequently cited as the greatest raider in Pro Kabaddi League history.
VS
Ajay Thakur
Ajay Thakur captained India's national team at the 2018 Asian Games, a tournament in which India, under his leadership, lost in the semifinal and finished with bronze — the first time the Indian men's team had failed to win kabaddi gold at the Asian Games since the event was introduced, a genuinely significant marker of the sport's tightening international competition. Thakur had led India to gold at the 2017 Asian Kabaddi Championship and the 2018 Kabaddi Masters tournament in the lead-up to that Asian Games, making the 2018 result a notable break from his otherwise successful captaincy record rather than the outright triumph it's sometimes remembered as. He built his domestic Pro Kabaddi League career with Bengaluru Bulls before later captaining Tamil Thalaivas, and the Indian government recognized his career with both the Arjuna Award and the Padma Shri, one of India's highest civilian honors. Thakur's combination of leading India through a genuinely difficult transitional Asian Games result and his sustained success captaining multiple PKL franchises has made him one of the more historically significant captains during kabaddi's shift toward tighter global competition.
