Paul McBeth
Paul McBeth won four consecutive PDGA World Championships from 2012 to 2015, then added two more in 2019 and 2022 for six career titles overall, and across that entire 2012-2022 span he never once finished outside the top two at Worlds — a streak of sustained podium-level consistency without real parallel in the sport. At the end of 2018, he signed with Discraft in what was reported at the time as the largest sponsorship deal in disc golf history, a contract that reflected both his individual standing and the sport's own rapidly growing commercial stakes. His sixth World Championship, won in 2022, came after a stretch where his usual dominance had briefly wavered, making it a genuine redemption story within the sport rather than simply another expected title for the player long considered its benchmark. His combination of a record six World Championship titles and his unmatched decade-long streak of top-two Worlds finishes has made McBeth almost universally regarded as the greatest disc golfer of all time.
VS
Ricky Wysocki
Ricky Wysocki, nicknamed "Sockibomb," won back-to-back PDGA World Championships in 2016 and 2017, part of a career that's also produced six Major titles — a combined résumé that ranks him among the sport's most accomplished players, well behind only Ken Climo's all-time record. On January 4, 2022, Wysocki signed a four-year, $4 million contract with Dynamic Discs, a deal that paid a $1 million base salary with the potential to reach $2 million depending on sales of his signature discs — a level of sponsorship money that would have been unimaginable in disc golf's earlier competitive eras. Wysocki and Dynamic Discs mutually parted ways at the end of the 2024 season, and in 2025 he signed with Discraft's Elite Team, a second major sponsorship shift that underscored just how much the sport's commercial stakes had grown since he turned professional as PDGA Rookie of the Year. His combination of back-to-back World Championships and his historic $4 million Dynamic Discs contract has made Wysocki one of the defining commercial and competitive figures of disc golf's modern professional era.
