Rosie MacLennan
Rosie MacLennan won Olympic gold in trampoline at both the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Games, becoming the only Canadian athlete in any sport to win individual gold medals at consecutive Summer Olympics and establishing herself as trampoline's dominant women's competitor of the 2010s. Her back-to-back Olympic titles came against an increasingly deep and competitive international field, as trampoline gymnastics' global talent pool grew significantly stronger between the 2012 and 2016 Games, making her title defense a genuinely harder achievement than her first gold alone suggested. MacLennan's role as Canada's flag bearer at the 2016 Rio closing ceremony reflected the broader national significance her achievements carried, elevating trampoline gymnastics' public profile in Canada well beyond the sport's typically limited mainstream visibility between Olympic cycles. Her combination of back-to-back individual Olympic gold medals and her broader role elevating the sport's Canadian profile has made MacLennan widely regarded as the greatest women's trampoline gymnast in Olympic history.
VS
Karen Cockburn
Karen Cockburn won Olympic medals in trampoline across three consecutive Games from 2000 to 2008, becoming one of the most consistently decorated trampoline gymnasts in the sport's Olympic history and establishing Canada as a genuine trampoline power well before Rosie MacLennan's later dominance. Her sustained podium presence across the sport's first three Olympic cycles, including a silver medal at the sport's inaugural 2000 Sydney appearance, reflected a level of technical consistency that helped establish Canada's broader trampoline program infrastructure for the following generation of athletes. Cockburn's continued involvement in Canadian trampoline gymnastics following her competitive retirement helped mentor the subsequent generation of Canadian trampoline athletes, extending her influence on the sport's development well past her own competitive career. Her combination of three consecutive Olympic medals and her foundational role establishing Canada's trampoline program has made Cockburn one of the most historically significant women's trampoline gymnasts in the sport's early Olympic history.
