TailGate Brewery
TailGate Brewery was founded in 2013, building its identity around a casual, family-friendly taproom model and a lineup leaning heavily on fruited and dessert-inspired beers designed to appeal to a broader, less beer-connoisseur-focused crowd than many of its more experimentally minded Nashville contemporaries. The brewery expanded to multiple Nashville-area locations relatively quickly, along with additional taprooms elsewhere in Tennessee, building a small regional footprint around a consistent, approachable brand identity rather than concentrating entirely on a single flagship location. Its Watermelon Ale and other fruit-forward releases became reliably popular entry points for drinkers newer to craft beer, giving TailGate a specific role in Nashville's scene as an accessible on-ramp rather than a destination for hardcore style enthusiasts. For a Nashville breweries list, TailGate is the essential "approachable, family-friendly" entry — a multi-location taproom built around fruit-forward beers designed to welcome drinkers newer to craft beer rather than chase connoisseur trends.
VS
Jackalope Brewing Company
Jackalope Brewing Company was founded in 2011 by Bailey Spaulding and Robyn Virball, becoming one of the first female-founded and female-owned breweries in Tennessee at a moment when women running production breweries remained a genuine rarity across the American craft beer industry. Thunder Ann Golden Ale, named after Spaulding's grandmother, became the brewery's flagship and one of the more recognizable core beers to emerge from Nashville's early 2010s craft beer growth, helping establish Jackalope as a genuine commercial presence rather than a novelty. The founders' backgrounds — Spaulding had worked in craft beer sales before starting the brewery, giving her direct insight into what the local market actually wanted — shaped a deliberately approachable, sessionable core lineup rather than an extreme-styles-first approach. For a Nashville breweries list, Jackalope is the essential "female-founded pioneer" entry — one of Tennessee's first female-owned breweries, built around an approachable core lineup led by its Thunder Ann Golden Ale.
